In all these things

In all these things
In all these things
In all these things
You and I are
whole countries
of the same people
like two people in
the waiting room
at the Doctor’s
and there’s nothing
we can really do
about the sickness
we have.
We’re dying.
But we smile at
eachother
and we share with
eachother
and maybe we thought we were different than
eachother
too each
too other.
we’re whole countries
of people killing
with no real
reason why.
no honest reason.
not at the start.
maybe then it turns into defense
and that maybe feels more honest
but it’s not.
if someone punches you
it’s a mistake.
they don’t know any better.
sure, we’ll strap them down
in that waiting room
and pump them with drugs
or we’ll hit them back
or
or
or
or…
cause we’re a whole country
of people operating on a false
notion and from that false
notion we find a way to kill people.
whole rooms of people.
children holding their mother’s breast.
the sick.
those on the crapper.
people asleep.
kids doing their homework.
someone with an appointment later today
to wait in a waiting room
for results that might not
come today but will
another.
and that’s scary.
survival is scary.
death is scary.
that other person is scary.
over there.
waiting for their news.
not so different.
same dreams.
same hopes.
simple things.
God.
lunch later.
laugh with the kids.
art.
sport.
breeze.
the night sky.
love.
so why are they scary again?
“in all these things
we are more than conquerors
through him who loved us”
we are more than conqueror
worms woven into skirts of fear
and domination.
we are brothers and sisters in life.
true life is the triumph of the spirit
the noble spirit reaching
out and escaping the
trappings of this thing.
that’s a culture of life.
life recognized all around
you as a fullness of a love
and so instead of bombing
we laugh and we create jobs
and we educate eachother
and we play soccer
and watch our children play soccer
and we dance.
everyone could fit into this purpose
in all these things
said and unsaid.
everyone.
